2010 marks the bicentennial birthday of Robert Schumann (1810 - 1856).  Raised in a literary tradition, Robert Schumann made a decision between 'poetry and prose, or call it music and law' at age twenty.  He studied piano, and wished to pursue the life of a concert pianist until an injury to his hand forced him to turn his attention to composition.
