In the autumn of 1985, Reijo Kiilunen launched Ondine in Helsinki, Finland, releasing the first album under the auspices of the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival. After 25 years and about 500 audio releases, Ondine remains one of the world’s most respected labels specializing in new classical music.
A September 2010 key release will focus on national icon Jean Sibelius (1865–1957): a new CD recording of his famous Violin Concerto features soloist Frank Peter Zimmermann together with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra under its chief conductor John Storgårds. This is the German star violinist’s debut on the Ondine label, and the orchestra’s 40th CD release under its exclusive agreement with Ondine.
For a limited time, take 25% off these selections from Ondine and ClassicsOnline.
*Offer available from October 6 to 19, 2010.
