Leonard Slatkin, now a household name from his longstanding international career and currently the music director of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, was a young unknown when the Vox company began to record him conducting his Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra. A great series of recordings ensued produced by the Grammy® award winning team of Marc Aubort and Joanna Nickrenz. The original masters were used when making the CD stereo masters with fantastic results and many of these recordings have been re-issued on SACD and even DVD Audio on Audiophile labels. The series was so successful that Slatkin and the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra went on to record internationally with many major labels.
