KHACHATURIAN / PROKOFIEV / GLAZUNOV: Violin Concertos
For her first disc, the young German prodigy Julia Fischer chose a repertoire that suits her perfectly. In the Khachaturian concerto, she combines impetuosity and reflection as much as this romantic, exotic work allows. Her direction of the melody is always within the limits of the best taste... Very different and imaginative in the details [is] the First Concerto of Prokofiev... dazzling. The orchestra is very remarkable.

MOZART: Violin Concertos Nos. 1, 2 and 5
I simply cannot say enough about Julia Fischer's playing, and once again, Pentatone captures Mss Fischer in all her glory. Excellent sound, superb playing and perfect balance between the soloist and the orchestra. There is not a lot I can say about Mozart and his concertos for violin that has not been said before. If you like Mozart and enjoy Miss Fischer's playing then I highly recommend this SACD.

MENDELSSOHN: Piano Trios Nos. 1 and 2
This new recording is irresistible, with the three players caught in a wholly natural ambience. It’s always a good sign when you don’t want to stop playing a disc long enough to write about it.

BACH: Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin
“Often the jaw simply drops. Can this really be one violinist performing? But it is. So give triple thanks: to Bach’s genius, to Fischer’s exciting gifts, and, not least, the formidable character of her violin itself, a 1750 Guadagnini.”
--Geoff Brown, The Times (London)
