Classical Viennese music may be loved all over the world, but its authentic interpretation can only be gained at the source: the Wiener Johann Strauss Orchestra. In 1965, Eduard Strauss (great-nephew of the “Waltz King” Johann Strauss) and other outstanding musicians from a variety of Viennese orchestras united to form the Wiener Johann Strauss Orchestra. In 1968 Willi Boskovsky, whose name is closely linked to the traditional New Years Concerts in Vienna, followed as main conductor. Today it is Johannes Wildner, former violinist of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and internationally renowned conductor, who maintains the orchestraʼs great reputation for authenticity and tradition. The Wiener Johann Strauss Orchestra performs its own concert cycle at the Vienna Musikverein and tours the world, bringing the immortal tunes of Viennese music to life.
