Featured Titles: This weekend only, take at least 20% off these featured releases. Offer good through June 10 only.

BEETHOVEN, L. van: Piano Concerto No. 2 / Piano Concerto in E flat major, WoO 4 / Rondo in B flat major (Brautigam, Norrkoping Symphony, Parrott)
La Nef: Music for Joan the Mad (La Nef) Glass, P.: Symphonies Nos. 2 and 3
Naxos: 8.572396
Shostakovich, D.: Symphonies, Vol. 5 - Symphonies Nos. 1 and 3 (Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir and Orchestra, Petrenko)

The scherzo is brilliant, the slow movement expressive but unsentimental, exactly as it should be. And the finale seldom has sounded better, with the orchestra’s strings really doing themselves proud in the coda. Like all of the releases in this series so far, this is world-class.

La Nef: Music for Joan the Mad (La Nef)

Music for Joan the Mad was inspired by the life of the Spanish queen, who was believed to be a major music lover. Early music ensemble La Nef takes its share of liberties with traditional Spanish music of the day, with spectacular results.
Naxos: 8.559202
Glass, P.: Symphonies Nos. 2 and 3

The Third Symphony contains some of Glass' most gentle, subtle textures as well as the usual trademarks. The edgy power of the finale prompts stunning playing from the Bournemouth strings.
