Elgar, E.: Cello Concerto / Sea Pictures / Cockaigne (Du Pre, Baker, Barbirolli)

Jacqueline Du Pré performs Elgar's Cello Concerto in the 1965 recording that arguably launched her career. Both Du Pré and Dame Janet Baker give all-time great performances filled with emotional intensity in two of Elgar's most beloved works. Not to be missed.
Genuin: GEN85050
Violin Recital: Oistrakh, David - Mozart, W.A. / Schubert, F. / Beethoven, L. van (The Last Recital with Paul Badura-Skoda)

This concert was to be the last by the colossus of the violin, David Oistrakh. Fortunately for all of us, it was recorded, with support given by Paul Badura-Skoda. The performance includes works by Mozart, Schubert and Beethoven.
haenssler classic: CD93.703
Piano Recital: Arrau, Claudio - Beethoven, L. van / Brahms, J. (Schwetzinger Festspiele Edition, 1963, 1973)

This disc contains two Claudio Arrau recital performances, from the 1963 and 1973 Schwetzingen Festivals, capturing the dynamism and excitement the pianist was capable of creating in a live setting. Usually conservative on record, these are performances by a thinking musician at the height of his technical powers.
