Patricia Kopatchinskaja's fifth recording on naïve offers intense performances of violin concertos by Stravinsky and Prokofiev, recorded with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. She is recognized as "bringing a particularly personal intensity to everything she touches" (BBC). Her previous recording, featuring Bartok, Eötvös and Ligeti concertos and conducted by Peter Eötvös, just won the Recording of the Year at the Gramophone Awards.

Philippe Herreweghe directs Collegium Vocale Gent in performances of the sacred music of Carlo Gesualdo. The Tenebrae Responsories comprise a set of pieces for Holy Week; 27 motets for six voices, a psalm and hymn, published under Gesualdo's own supervision in 1611. The acoustics of the church in the Asciano village in Tuscany create a perfect soundscape for this 2011 recording.

John Luther Adams' Inuksuit is a work scored for 9 to 99 percussion players who are meant to be widely dispersed in an outdoor area. This world premiere recording was made in the forest surrounding Guilford Sound in Guilford, Vermont, and produced by percussionist and composer Doug Perkins. Inuksuit has been described by the New York Times as "the ultimate environmental piece," while the New Yorker's Alex Ross hailed it as "one of the most rapturous experiences of my listening life."
