Monteverdi, C.: Missa in illo tempore (Odhecaton, Col)
Ricercar: RIC322

Of all Monteverdi's works, the Missa in illo tempore is the most important link between the composer and the Franco-Flemish polyphonic tradition. Also included here are world premiere recordings of three recently-discovered Marian motets by Monteverdi. These were recorded in the splendid acoustic of the Basilica di Santa Barbara in Mantua, and, using the Antegnati organ that Monteverdi himself had heard, the Missa in illo tempore and the motet Cantate Domino were recorded from the two galleries flanking the nave. Monteverdi lovers should not miss this!
