Inspired by a painting of the 'Four Temperaments,' each movement of Carl Nielsen's Second Symphony depicts a different human emotion. Characteristically Danish, and ambitious in scope, this is Nielsen's most recognized international work, and given a thrilling performance here by the London Symphony Orchestra and Sir Colin Davis.
