Haydn, J.: Piano Sonatas, Vol. 5 (Bavouzet) - Nos. 12, 15, 37, 54, 55, 56
Chandos: CHAN10763

Jean-Efflam Bavouzet presents Vol. 5 of his complete survey of Haydn piano sonatas with the performer's characteristically idiomatic approach to interpretation. According to Bavouzet, "One often forgets how little information Haydn left in the text of his keyboard works... playing them is all the more fascinating for that."

This collection documents that diversity, from John Mundy's setting, which voices concerns over the church schisms in the 16th century, to Rudolph Mauersberger's setting, which mourns the destruction of Dresden in 1945, as well as two new commissions for this collection.
