Max Reger's best known work, Variations and Fugue on a Theme of Mozart starts off this survey of his orchestral pieces. Conductor Leif Segerstam initially impressed reviewers with his 'visionary advocacy' of the Four Böcklin Tone Poems, and the 'alluring transparency' of his Mozart Variations was noted by the BBC Music Magazine.
