Berlioz' Symphonie fantastique | Leonard Slatkin Symphonie fantastique is a semi-autobiographical account (there was no actual murder) of Hector Berlioz one-way attraction for the Irish actress Harriet Simpson. He later married the object of his affections, but composed Le corsair after the final breakup of their marriage. Both pieces are included in this brilliant new recording from Leonard Slatkin and the Orchestre National de Lyon. more info
Josef Suk - Prague | A Summer's Tale Two symphonic poems by Suk are performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Jiri Belohlávek, who also brought us the highly acclaimed recording of the composer's First Symphony and Ripening, which was Disc of the Month in the magazine BBC Music. more info
