This Week's New Features - Thursday, October 4, 2012

	Chant is at the heart of this new release from GRAMMY® Award winners The King's Singers. The concept here is unique: build upon the individual clauses of the spiritually charged text, ranging over the centuries and shedding rich interpretive light on the poetic and devotional aspects of the Lord's Prayer.

	Every year the Gramophone Classical Music Awards reward the best recordings. The long list is derived from positive reviews in the magazine's pages, then specialist committees whittle these down to just six recordings in each category. Winners were announced on September 27 at the Gramophone Classical Music Awards and at Gramophone.co.uk. Here we feature the available recordings from the nominees list for this year's awards.

Franz Schubert String Quartets - Cuarteto Casals

Wrongly dated on its publication in 1830, the Quartet in E flat is in fact the work of a 16 year-old Franz Schubert who had just entered teacher training college. The companion piece in this featured release is Schubert's very last, and only 13 years separate the two pieces. All performed by Cuarteto Casals who has been a repeated guest at the world's most prestigious concert halls since winning First Prizes at the London and Brahms-Hamburg competitions.

Last Chance: Josef Suk - Prague \| A Summer's Tale

	Two symphonic poems by Suk are performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Jiri Belohlávek, who also brought us the highly acclaimed recording of the composer's First Symphony and Ripening, which was Disc of the Month in the magazine BBC Music.
