Dear ClassicsOnline customer,
This week we updated the site with three brand-new features: Naxos releases Weinberg's Symphony No. 19, part of the project to record, along with Chandos, his complete orchestral works. We also feature the recordings honored with Gramophone Choice reviews in the October and November 2012 editions, and a new release of beloved American tunes from star violinist Rachel Kolly d'Alba.
Enjoy,

Mieczyslaw Weinberg's 26 Symphonies are seen today as a substantial continuation of the Russian tradition. Symphony No. 19 marks 'Bright May' as the month in which the Great Patriotic War came to an end, but expressed with ominous apprehension as well as celebration. Naxos is pleased to be in cooperation with Chandos to record the complete cycle of Weinberg Symphonies. |

Gramophone magazine is considered by many classical music fans to be the gold standard in album reviews. Alongside articles and editorials, approximately half of each issue is dedicated to informative, fair-minded reviews of classical music recordings, the best of which are selected as Gramophone 'Choice'. The selections inside are Gramophone Choices in the October and November 2012 issues available in ClassicsOnline. |
