Many regard Karol Szymanowski as one of the pre-eminent composers of the 20th Century, and these early symphonies attest to a very clear musical vision for such a young composer.  Hear the fascination with mysticism and high-Romanticism of Symphony No. 1 as well as the passionate, soaring violin lines of the 2nd Symphony, and you'll agree that this music deserves to be widely known.  Valery Gergiev conducts the London Symphony Orchestra.
