The Haydn Quartet, which has performed both in Hungary and elsewhere in Europe, was established on the basis of an earlier string trio. The violinist János Horváth completed his studies at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow in 1979. The second violinist Lajos Foldesi, violist András Rudolf and cellist Gábor Magyar were trained at the Liszt Academy in Budapest, where the quartet is based.
