Matthew Sintchak, soprano saxophone Joan Hutton, alto saxophone David Milne, tenor saxophone Angela Wyatt, baritone saxophone
The Ancia Saxophone Quartet has delighted audiences throughout North America, Europe, and Asia for almost two decades. The group’s innovative and diverse repertoire stretches traditional boundaries of genre and style, juxtaposing traditional classical repertoire with contemporary works by modern composers. Since its founding in 1990, Ancia has been devoted to broadening the saxophone quartet repertoire. Through collaborations with such notable composers as Carleton Macy, Jennifer Higdon, Homer Lambrecht, Ramon Ricker, Gregory Vajda, Jeffrey Brooks, Peter Blauvelt, Gary Haynes, Paul Swenson, Kevin Holm-Hudson, Richard Lawn, Udo Agnesens, Doug Little, and David Milne, the quartet has premiered a prolific number of exclusive commissions. Ancia also partners with the Society of Composers, Inc, Meet the Composer, and the American Composers Forum on commissioning projects. The Ancia saxophonists are all active solo performers and hold music degrees from the Eastman School of Music, Northwestern University, the New England Conservatory of Music, St Olaf College, and Ithaca College. The Quartet, based in Minneapolis, USA, is an Artist-Clinician for Conn-Selmer, Vandoren, and Dansr Inc.
