Neil Ferris studied for his undergraduate degree at Royal Holloway, University of London, before going on to complete a master’s degree in Performance Studies at the Royal College of Music. He was appointed music director of Cardiff Polyphonic Choir in 2006. Since then the choir has broadcast and recorded for BBC Radio 2, 3 and 4 and performed regularly with the BBC National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales. He is also music director of Wimbledon Choral Society, which enjoys a reputation as one of London’s leading amateur choruses. Neil Ferris also works as a guest conductor with other orchestras and choirs, including the New Queens Hall Orchestra, City of Southampton Orchestra, Midland Sinfonia, Brandenburg Sinfonia, the Salomon Orchestra and Haydn Chamber Orchestra. He is guest conductor of the Whitehall Choir, the Joyful Company of Singers and Birmingham Bach Choir. He is principal guest conductor of Convivium Singers. He combines his conducting activities with his work as a teacher, and is head of choral conducting at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and a tutor for the Association of British Choral Directors’ national conducting courses.
