Massimo Spadano

Massimo Spadano was born in 1968 in Lanciano and took his diploma in violin in Italy and in Utrecht with Viktor Liberman and Philippe Hirschhorn, graduating cum laude. He took his diploma in conducting with Donato Renzetti at the Accademia Musicale Pescarese. Since 1998 he has been the artistic and music director of the Galicia Chamber Orchestra and since 1994 leader of the Galicia Symphony Orchestra (OSG). Engagements as a guest conductor have taken him across Europe, as well as to the Americas, Asia, Africa and the Near East. He has worked with Viktoria Mullova, Christian Zacharias, Enrico Dindo, Alexander Lonquich, Katia and Marielle Labèque, Gérard Depardieu and Alessandro Baricco. He has devoted much of his time to historical performance practice with original instruments and various editions of baroque repertoire, performed with the Camerata Anxanum, which he founded and directs. He has recorded for Denon, Opus 111, Bongiovanni, Naxos, Harmonia Mundi, DHM and Auvidis Astrée. His recording of the sonatas of Reichardt was awarded the French Choc du disque.
