Manfred Mussauer

The young Austrian conductor Manfred Müssauer studied the clarinet, singing, conducting and musicology in Vienna and Munich. He participated in international masterclasses and was engaged as musical assistant at the Salzburg Festival, working with Herbert von Karajan, James Levine and Horst Stein, to complete his musical training. After his début with the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra in 1991 he started an intensive cooperation with this orchestra, which included tours and recordings, and during the same period he appeared as a guest conductor at a large number of well-known theatres, including the Graz Opera, Metropoltheater Berlin, and Estonian State Opera. He has also appeared with established orchestras, including the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, Hungarian Symphony Orchestra, Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, Prague Chamber Orchestra, and Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra Ostrava. In 2001, after a very successful concert tour in Austria, he was appointed principal associate conductor of the Orchestra of the Swan.
