Karol Stryja is among the most eminent Polish conductors, having studied conducting in Katowice and served as a viola-player in the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, before assuming the position of chief conductor of the Polish State Philharmonic Orchestra. He has appeared as a conductor in North and South America, as well as throughout Europe and has made a number of recordings of Polish music both for the radio and for recording companies.
