Update me on new releases by Temes

Jose Luis Temes (b1956)

José Luis Temes was born in Madrid in 1956 where his principal teachers were Labarra, Sopena, Llácer and Martín Porrás. Graduating from the Conservatory there, he directed the Madrid Percussion Group between 1976 and 1980. Between 1983 and 2000 he conducted the Circle Group. He has conducted almost all Spanish and many foreign orchestras, and in his career as a conductor has directed the premières of some 300 works. He has recorded over seventy albums, often of Spanish contemporary music, and participated in major international festivals of new music in America, throughout Europe, and elsewhere. He combines his work as a conductor with extensive work as a teacher, lecturer and manager. He is the author of numerous books and essays, most notably his Tratado de Solfeo Contemporáneo (Línea, 1982–1992), a biography of Anton Webern (CBA, 1988) and two volumes on the lost history of the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid (Alianza, 2000–2003). In 2008 he was awarded the National Prize of Spain for Music Performance.
