Update me on new releases by Spalding

Daniel Spalding

Daniel Spalding brings to the podium a sophisticated sense of programming and color, and the warmth and excitement that is the mark of a versatile and complex musician. Born in Kansas, he earned advanced degrees at Northwestern University School of Music, where he specialized in percussion and composition, and later pursued conducting studies in Austria at the Salzburg "Mozarteum," in Romania with Mircea Cristescu of the "George Enescu" Philharmonic, and in the United States with Max Rudolf. He made his European debut in 1985 with the Romanian State Philharmonic in Cluj-Napoca, where he was shortly afterwards appointed principal guest conductor. In addition, he appeared and toured with most other State Philharmonics throughout Romania, including a program featuring the Mahler First Symphony with the Ploiesti State Philharmonic which was broadcast on Romanian State Television. His many successes helped bring him to the attention of Sergiu Comissiona, who subsequently invited him to be his assistant with the Houston Symphony Orchestra.
