Richard Farrant was not a major composer, but worked in the 16th century as the Master of Music at both the Chapel Royal in London and at the Royal palace at Windsor. It was for the Royal delight that each winter he staged plays with music. Though the plays no longer survive, two of his songs have been handed down.
