The English madrigalist Richard Carlton was vicar of the Church of England parish of St Stephen’s in Norwich, where he also served as Master of the Choristers at the Cathedral. He contributed to the madrigal hommage to Queen Elizabeth The Triumphs of Oriana in 1601, and published his own sets of madrigals in the same year.
