Update me on new releases by Deane

Raymond Deane (b1/27/1953)

Raymond Deane was born in 1953 on Achill Island off the west coast of Ireland. His family moved to Dublin in 1963, and from 1970 until 1974 he read music at University College Dublin. Following graduation, he studied composition with Gerald Bennett (Basle), Karlheinz Stockhausen (Cologne) and the late Isang Yun (Berlin). He made his début as a composer at the first Dublin Festival of Twentieth Century Music in 1969, and three years later was a founder member of the Association of Young Irish Composers which later became the Association of Irish Composers, the Irish branch of the International Society for Contemporary Music. Raymond Deane has been the Irish first delegate at ISCM ‘World Music Days’ in Mexico (1993), Sweden (1994) and Germany (1995) and his jury-selected Alembic for wind orchestra was performed at the 1998 festival in Manchester. He has been the featured composer in a number of Irish festivals, including ‘Accents’ (1991, with G. Kurtag), ‘Mostly Modern’ (1994) and the Sligo Contemporary Music Festival (1999, with Roger Doyle). In 1986 he was elected a member of Aosdána, the Irish Academy of Artists. He now lives in Dublin as a freelance composer and author.
