Paul Moravec, recipient of the 2004 Pulitzer Prize in Music, has composed over one hundred works for the orchestral, chamber, choral, lyric, film, and operatic genres. The Letter, to a libretto by Terry Teachout, had its première at Santa Fe Opera in 2009 and Danse Russe, a comic opera, in Philadelphia in April, 2011. Other recent premières include Brandenburg Gate, with Orpheus Chamber Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. His catalog of recordings includes three previous Naxos American Classics CDs: Tempest Fantasy (8.559323), The Time Gallery (8.559267), and Cool Fire (8.559393) and an upcoming orchestral album on BMOP/sound. He is University Professor at Adelphi and recently served as Artist-in-Residence with the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. Other professional honors include election to the American Philosophical Society, fellowships from the NEA, the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the Rockefeller Foundation, and the Rome Prize from the American Academy in Rome.
