The Flemish composer Lupus Hellinck was a chorister at St Donatian in Bruges, where he returned after ordination, later to serve as maître de chapelle at Notre Dame and in the same position at St Donatian. His mastery of polyphonic technique is shown in his thirteen parody Masses, a series of motets and German chorales, French chansons and Flemish songs.
