In 1992 he became the youngest first prize winner in the history of the Guitar Foundation of America International Competition. Vieaux resides in Cleveland, Ohio, is head of The Cleveland Institute of Music Guitar Department, and regularly tours the US as recitalist, chamber musician, concerto soloist and masterclass teacher. He has been engaged as concerto soloist with The Cleveland Orchestra, The Cleveland Pops, The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, Auckland Philharmonia, Santa Fe Symphony, The Astral Chamber Orchestra, Ars Nova Chamber Orchestra and Orchestra 2001, and has worked with conductors Miguel Harth-Bedoya, Luis Biava, Gareth Morrell and Jahja Ling. Jason Vieaux has released several recordings; his “Laureate Series” CD on Naxos Records has sold over 30,000 copies, and discs of Ponce and Albeniz are available on Azica Records.
