Aaron Jay Kernis (b1960)

Winner of the coveted 2002 Grawemeyer Award and one of the youngest composers ever to be awarded the Pulitzer Prize, Aaron Jay Kernis is among the most esteemed musical figures of his generation. His works appear prominently around the world. Commissions have come from many of America’s foremost performers, including soprano Renée Fleming and violinist Joshua Bell, and such organizations as the New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, San Francisco and Minnesota Orchestras and the Walt Disney Company, and his work is widely recorded.
