Joan Ambrioso Dalza was a lutenist working in Italy in the early 16th century, though little is known of his life. Like so many lutenists of the time, he gravitated towards Venice. The music that has survived is almost entirely in dance form, their relative simplicity would indicate that they were composed with a popular market in mind. In total we have evidence that he composed 42 works, most contained in one document published in Venice in 1508.
