Hans von Bulow (1830 - 1894)

Distinguished as a pianist and as a conductor, Hans von Blow was a piano pupil of Clara Schumanns father, Friedrich Wieck, and later of Liszt, whose daughter Cosima he married. He was encouraged as a conductor by Wagner, who married Cosima after her divorce from her first husband. Von Blows compositions for piano are technically demanding, as might be expected from one of Liszts most brilliant pupils.
