Fuzzy (b1939)

Fuzzy studied composition with Per Norgard, Vagn Holmboe, Finn Hofding, Jan Bark, Gyorgy Ligeti and Karlheinz Stockhausen. He taught at the Royal Academy of Music in Arhus during the seventies. In 1982 he decided to pursue a full time career as a composer, his production falling into four main categories: instrumental music, electroacoustic music, theater music and film music. He was a Danish pioneer in the area of electroacoustic music, working today mainly in his private studio in Copenhagen. He has also been active as a performer in the Swedish group New Culture Quartet.

Fuzzy has over the years been greatly involved in television work and for a time hosted his own programme for children Fuzzys Workshop, a programme about contemporary music and music from foreign cultures. He composed the music for the opera, with text by Rune T. Kidde, called "Heksemutter Mortensen og den fede Kalkun". The opera was commissioned for The Royal Opera by the then newly appointed opera manager, Kasper Holten, who also produced the opera.

As a composer, Fuzzy has - apart from orchestral, choral and chamber music works - concentrated mainly on electro-acoustic music, often in connection with ballet, theatre and film - or with a mixture of all of these. As a film composer he has worked with Kaspar Rostrup, Rainer Werner Fassbinder and Bille August.
