User's Review: A Brilliant Interpretation of Schubert  Death and the Maiden was the first piece of chamber music I got to know. I have heard it dozens of times and I am always listening out for the great interpretation. This may be it. The Lindseys are very good but this one by the Busch is even better because it makes the last two movements as great as the first two, which most other quartets just seem to do as add-ons... User's Review: French Baroque Masterworks Rachel Barton Pine and her two colleagues, John Mark Rozendaal (viola da gamba) and David Schrader (harpsichord), known collectively as Trio Settecento follow up their superb Italian and German collections with one devoted to composers of the French Baroque. The program is imaginatively assembled and stylishly executed. The sonics are just about perfect. Excellent liner notes to boot.

User's Review: A pretty good version  There are squillion versions of Water Music about the place -- all with their various influences from the conductor. I chose this album as the conductor's tempo is quite well-paced. The country dances bounce along at a speed you would have expected and they are quite jolly (as are the rest of the pieces). Other versions have a tendency to be a little ponderous. For someone wanting music the way it should be, this is the version for you.

User's Review: Czerny - worth a listen Czerny has a reputation as a composer of piano exercises, but this album shows why Beethoven had a high regard for him. Like the music of Ries, this shows the clear influence of Beethoven. The Czerny Symphony No. 2 in D has some parts that are very similar to Beethoven's second symphony, but there are still some interesting and original places in the Czerny work... Read more

Published Review (by Paul Orgel, Fanfare): Wendy Warner and Irina Nuzova’s performance of the Rachmaninoff Cello Sonata is excellent, but there are others out there that are equal to it. Their CD is on my Want List because of their beautiful, committed playing of the well-chosen, less-familiar works on the program, and Cedille’s artistry in capturing the complex sound of Warner’s cello.

Published Review (by Stephen Plaistow, Gramophone): Jean-Efflam Bavouzet says he is on a crusade to convey ‘the boundless treasures of this sublime music’. I have not heard finer Haydn-playing from a pianist since Alfred Brendel, and among the four sonatas here, the one in C minor, the first great sonata for the piano, has blown me away.

User's Review: Rarely heard, life-enhancing music This is a delight. The main work here, The Hallelujah of Creation, shows a composer who not only knows his Mozart and Haydn (Kunzen conducted 'The Creation' not long before writing this), but who can write well-crafted, noble and attractive music with its own personality...
