User's Review: Beautiful music! I got interested in Grechaninov because our choir is going to sing the Messa Festiva. Before we started rehearsing, I downloaded the CD and was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful composition. Its open structure, sometimes very modern chords versus a very classical theme really "got" me... Read more |

BLANCAFORT, M.: Piano Music, Vol. 5 (Villalba) - Nocturnes / Hommage a Faure / Peces petites per a mans menudes / La verge de Palau Solitar8.572220 |

This is the fifth and final volume of Manuel Blancafort’s complete solo piano works, a series which has drawn on many unpublished scores kindly made available to Miquel Villalba by the composer’s family and contributed to the work of recovering, conserving and publicising the composer’s legacy. From the first two Nocturnes of 1930 and 1931, to the other works composed during or after World War II, we hear the transformation of Blancafort’s music from pieces inspired by his love of nature to works which pay tribute to fellow composers or are lovingly dedicated to his grandchildren. |

User's Review: TCHAIKOVSKY: Violin Concerto The Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto seems to be an exceptional work. Not to be far from an expert in classical music, so it seems. I discovered classical music in an exciting world, a form of relaxation therapy and enormous enjoyment. Going a little further, I would even say that I have discovered a new way of seeing and living life. I rarely hear classical music before, but now almost what I hear or listen to are classical music... Read more |

User's Review: Most welcome Louise Farrenc was a unique figure in the French musical life of the 19th century. First woman to be appointed professor at the Paris Conservatoire, she was also a composer. And a gifted one. If her solo piano is fairly conventional salon music, her chamber music is of a much higher quality... Read more |

User's Review: A sweet Nordic Christmas One of the things I like from this album is the home character that it has. Just two warm female voices, and few instruments: no big orchestras, not many instruments, only the essential to create together the two voices a warm domestic atmosphere... Read more

User's Review: Crucial for the Understanding of Music Haydn's symphonies are crucial for the understanding of classical music, in almost every aspect. The London Symphonies exhibit some of the characteristics which changed the sound and texture of music forever. They may have had more influence on what was to come in the romantic movement than all that went before them. This Konzerthaus live recording is one of the best there is... Read more |
