User's Review: Authentic Nielsen  I had heard lots of good things about this legendary recording but never expected that I would ever stumble upon it as a bargain download. The performance is fast, taut and thrilling, far more so than Blomstedt or anyone else I've ever heard, and the sound is not a drawback at all, if anything it adds to the excitement because it's a touch raw and sharp, no plush velvet from Karajan's Berliners here!... User's Review: The best Rossini's Armida  "Armida" released for the reopening of the Teatro San Carlo in Naples in November 1817, constituted a theme atypical for Rossini which always shied away from the supernatural elements. Moreover, it presents the particularity of having three tenors of force and a single female character, the sorceress Armida... Read more

User's Review: Raff Piano Concerto  Raff lived for 60 years, in the middle part of the nineteenth century and was one of the most popular composers, at the time. When he died, however, his popularity went into a steep decline and soon he was all but forgotten. I think that this is a great shame, as while his music can sometimes be banal, it is often very attractive. The piano concerto is a generally very attractive piece, with some memorable tunes... User's Review: String Quartet Masterpieces!  Saint-Saëns was a prolific composer of chamber music, and this album showcases him at his brilliantly creative best. These two string quartets are masterpieces of the late Romantic style, played with great verve by the Fine Arts Quartet. In my opinion these quartets are at least the equal of Dvorak's string quartets. At this price, they're irresistible!

User's Review: Slow and peaceful  This is the first time I've ever listened to music of Morton Feldman. I was told by an acquaintance that I should start either with his piano music, or with Rothko Chapel. It's unlike anything I have ever listened to. The music is well-and-truly in the "atonal" camp, and in fact there's nothing remotely approaching a melody until very near the end of Rothko Chapel... Read more

User's Review: Wonderful experience  Surprising to recognize the depth of the work of Vivaldi, sublime vocal music and a pleasure to hear again and again. If Vivaldi, the great perpetrators are Italian. Vocal and instrumental performance is great. Wonderful experience, highly recommended.

User's Review: Wunderlich at his best  This album is brilliant because it contains Stravinsky's Persophene in German language (a rare possibility) and has Fritz Wunderlich as protagonist. Who knows Wunderlich's singing and figuration of the role is breathtaking. He sang this role only in this concert; fortunately the Hessen Radio Station has recorded the life performance so we can listen this rare document. It's a merit by ClassicsOnline to present this recording for download reasons. Thanks!
