User's Review: Clear and convincing Absolutely perfect sound quality makes this a special recording. You can feel the distance of the instruments, and you can hear exactly where each instrument stands. The performers are seasoned artists who seem as one; technically accomplished, they offer a beautiful interpretation that is as proficient as it is fresh...Read more |

User's Review: Ormandy on great form The Philadelphia Orchestra recorded this Symphony under their previous conductor Stokowski, and it was only a matter of time before Ormandy would turn his attention to a score whose Romanticism makes it ideal territory for the sumptuous playing of the "fabulous Philadelphians"... User's Review: Stunning Everything about this recording is stunning, from the sound clarity to the timbre of the instruments, to the artistry of the performance, especially considering how young the players are. The Jerusalem quartet has shown that classical music has an amazing capacity to reinvent itself. This is one of the most vibrant and technically brilliant recordings of Mozart string quartets I have ever heard. It is a pure delight to listen to. |

User's Review (by Ross Vick): Music to Live By I love working while listening to movie scores. We tend to view our lives as little scenes moving from vignette to vignette don’t we? And being able to tie in emotionally, yet subconsciously to the music and our task at hand is quite easy to do with this delightful CD. I enjoy, and actually prefer reading historical non-fiction and reading while listening to Film Music of Brian Easdale brings an added dimension to the reading. So, no matter your moment, relaxing, reading or working, this CD is a great companion. The selections are varied and the recording, production and performance are all first rate. |

User's Review: Rich Romances, rich voice! Twenty years ago Dmitri Hvorostovsky first recorded Tchaikovsky songs for Philips, just having won the Cardiff Singer of the World Competition. It’s remarkable how little his voice has aged since then. If anything, the dark, full vibrato is even more under control at the very top of the register. Hvorostovsky has added many of the more unconventional Tchaikovsky songs to his repertoire since that first recital disc... Read more |

User's Review: Interesting Collection of Ancient Music For fans of recorder, aulos, and ancient music, this collection is both interesting and entertaining. The first duo of pieces are a bit repetitive, but the second set becomes much more melodic and enjoyable. The rest of the album contains several difficult pieces as well, but much of it is quite beautiful. The total effect does transport you back to Ancient Greece, in ways that only music can do. |

User's Review: A Wonderful, Eccentric Collection Fanshawe's collection of traditional Polynesian chants is a delight. Many of these musicians are not professional- they simply play music in their free time. Fanshawe's skill in finding these people, recording them, and arranging them is unique. The size of the album makes it feel like Fanshawe truly spanned Polynesia and took a sweeping record of its collective spirit. Approximately half of the tracks are in a chanting form that achieves glorious harmonies. Others look at sounds unknown to the average Western listener. I'm no expert in world music, but this collection of Polynesia's music could be a good addition to yours. |
