Coro Lirico Sinfonico Romano

Formerly known as the Coro Lirico Sinfonico Romano, the Nuovo Coro Lirico Sinfonico Romano was founded by Stefano Cucci, Elisa Maiorano and Ornella Scocca, quickly establishing itself as one of Rome’s foremost choral groups. Since 2002 it has collaborated on a regular basis with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma, since 2000 with the Orchestra di Roma e del Lazio, and since 2002 with the Orchestra Roma Sinfonietta. Since 2002 it has performed in concerts conducted by Ennio Morricone in Italy and abroad, including the concert in the Arena of Verona in 2004 from which the live CD Voci di silenzio was produced. In 2008 and 2009 the choir performed in three concerts with Andrea Bocelli. In 2011 it took part in the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto with Menotti’s Amelia al Ballo. In 2012 it participated in concerts with the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI directed by Ennio Morricone at the Auditorium della RAI in Turin. As a chamber group—the Coro Petrassi—it performs early and contemporary music. In 2007 it performed Marcello Panni’s Apocalypsis at the Spoleto Festival, and in 2011, Goffredo Petrassi’s Coro di morti with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma conducted by Francesco La Vecchia. The current director of the choir is Stefano Cucci.
