The Angelic Voice of the 20th Century
Review By dcutlan,November 2010

Listening to Ernest Lough's voice took me 70 years back when I first heard his voice on an old 78rpm record. This is a remastering of the earlier recordings and in spite of its age, Lough's voice still brought tears to my eyes as voice soars effortly to a top G and perhaps even an Ab. There has never been and will probably never again be such a pure voice from the mouth of a young boy. Backed by the brilliance of George Thalben-Ball on the organ, one couldn't get a finer combination for the works performed on this amazing recording. If you buy a copy, have your hanky ready. You will be truly moved.

Wings of a Dove
Review By MB84324,May 2010

I have been looking for this recording of O For the Wings of a Dove for 50 years. The actual song is all that I remember and I love it. It is a bit disappointing to find that it is only a relatively small part of a longer song, but nothing can take away the beauty of this remarkable recording. It has been remastered to give a beautiful, clear sound without any of the expected scratches. The rest of the album is also up to the same high standard. My second choice is for I Know that My Redeemer Liveth. It is a bit slower than perhaps we are used to but the expression he gives it requires the extra length. The clear top notes just give me goosebumps!

For those who like church choir music, this is a wonderful album. I would query why the dates state from 1927 to 1938? He was more....
