Simone Lamsma, First Prize Winner of the China International Violin Competition 2005, Benjamin Britten International Violin Competition 2004, and the Dutch National Violin Competition 2003, has performed to great acclaim throughout Europe, USA, South America, South Africa and China. She graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London in 2005, as the youngest student ever to enter the Bachelor of Music course. Simone performs on the ‘Habeneck’ Stradivarius, generously on loan to her from the Royal Academy of Music. This recital couples one of Elgar’s finest chamber works, the unashamedly romantic yet deeply serious Violin Sonata, with a selection of delightful miniatures.

Review By Cohn Anderson,CDs of the week,July 2006

Simone took First Prize in the first Benjamin Britten International Volin Competition (held in London in 2004). One of the prizes was to make a Naxos recording. Here it is. Its devoted to Elgar, the ardour-filled Sonata and numerous yummy short pieces such as Song of Morni Song of Night and Sa/ut d Heartfeft, mahogany-rich playing.
