Review By Penguin Guide,January 2009

In many ways Tim Hugh’s reading of the Cello Concerto is the most searching yet. He finds an intense thoughtfulness, a sense of mystery, of inner meditation in the great lyrical ideas of all three movements, daring to play with a more extreme pianissimo than any rival. Review By Geoffrey Norris,The Daily Telegraph (Australia),November 1999

"Dong-Suk Kang has an impassioned lyrical line and suppleness of tone... there is plenty of character here, wit and warmth woven together in a winning interpretation.

[Tim Hugh's] performance is poignant in expression, matching energy with contemplative intensity in the final Theme and Improvisations. The orchestral playing in both concertos is vibrantly alive to Walton's colouring."
