The use of a different soloist for each of these Naxos Dresden collections adds to their variety and interest. Cristiano Rossi’s style is more intimate than that of Marco Fornaciari, yet his playing is by no means without personality and rhythmic flair. Allegro bustle with life in the orchestra, and Vivaldi’s slow movements never fail to bring textural interest, apart from their melodies appeal. The last three of the seven of monotony, and RV 213 brings a stimulating close. Excellent recording.
