Review By Classic CD,October 1996

"[Krzyztof Bakowski] is and outstanding player capable of the wildest flights of fantast demanded by the composer...Wit conducts with real passion, producing a quite staggering density of string sound in the Funeral Music. If this issue doesn't scoop a few prizes and win converts to some superb music, nothing will."

Review By Penguin Guide,January 2009

They Symphony No. 4 is Lutoslawski’s culminating masterpiece which, in its concentration over two linked movements, seems to echo Sibelius’s Seventh. The darkly intense Funeral Music in memory of Bartók is another beautiful and concentrated work, while the two violin concertante works, Chain II and Partita, here come with the separating Interlude, similarly thoughtful, which Lutoslawski wrote as a link. In almost every way, not least in the playing of the violinist, Krzysztow Bakowski, these Polish performances math and even outshine earlier recordings conducted by the composer, helped by full, brilliant sound.
