Review By Penguin Guide,January 2009

On Naxos Konstantin Scherbakov gives a most poetic account of the Chopinesque F sharp minor Concerto, which is as good as any in any price range. The improvisatory musings of the slow movement come over beautifully, and Prometeus is no less characterful. Of course, the Moscow Symphony are no in the same league as the Cleveland Orchestra, but they play with ardour and the sound is very natural without being in the demonstration category.
