Review By Penguin Guide,January 2009

Benjamin Frith’s playing is delectably coaxing, and he makes these Nocturnes so often seem exquisitely like Chopin, yet still catches their naïve innocence, especially in the A flat major work. He hops, skips and jumps delightfully in the Irish Rondo finale of the First Sonata and is hardly less beguiling in the rather more imposing opening movement of the Second.

Review By Raymond Chapman Smith,The Advertiser (Adelaide),December 1999

"Field's Nocturnes have long been historically pigeon-holed as mere prototypes for Chopin but Frith's eloquence presents them as highly original, finely crafted examples of early romanticism-significant pieces in their own right, as much as for their obvious influence on Chopin and a great deal of later, Russian piano music-the country that first saw their creation and success."
