Vivaldi underestimated?
Review By f.bretschneider,November 2013

Antonio Vivaldi is well known for his many fluent, baroque solo concert. Although critics have said that the "red priest' composed not hundreds of concerts but one concert hundreds of times, within his indeed recognizable style many different melodic and harmonic emotions can be found, all being a preasure to the ear.

This holds equally for his less well-known sacred works. In the shadow of Bach and Handel, Vivaldi wrote beautiful, fluent and interesting vocal/choral works. Some of the best are performed in a melodious and truly baroque style by the Ex Cathedra ensemble under the direction of Jeffrey Skidmore. Recommended!
