Review By Lawrence Hansen,American Record Guide,January 2013

Kitaenko gives us a solid, secure, enjoyable rendering of the Winter Dreams Symphony…

The SACD sound is rich and full, imparting a mellowness to the strings and burnished glow to the brass. © 2013 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide online

Review By Ivan March ,Gramophone,October 2012

…this is a splendidly played coupling with wonderfully idiomatic understanding by the Gürzenich Orchestra, so sensitively conducted by Dmitri Kitaenko; his account of the symphony’s Adagio is very moving, as is the central movement of the Snow Maiden music. A disc not to be missed on any account. © 2012 Gramophone Read complete review on Gramophone

Review By Peter Joelson,Audiophile Audition,September 2012

As in other releases in this series, Kitajenko allows the music to breathe, and I have found this increasingly impressive on repeated listening. For the finely played excerpts from The Snow Maiden, the orchestra was recorded in a studio with excellent results, too. The symphony seems to derive from more than one performance and apart from very quiet rustling between the movements, the audience is not noticeable.

Dmitrij Kitajenko’s Tchaikovsky disc…is a (++++) recording, well-paced and beautifully played…Kitajenko takes this movement, and indeed the whole symphony, as written, allowing its lovely melodies plenty of time to flow and taking the second movement as a true Adagio cantabile, giving listeners an expansive portrayal of a vast Russian landscape. This is a glowing performance, with the excerpts from The Snow Maiden providing a pleasant complement to the symphony and a chance to hear parts of one of Tchaikovsky’s less-known works. © 2012 Infodad.com Read complete review

Review By Simon Corley,ConcertoNet.com,September 2012

Kitajenko’s new recording is among the best, very well recorded, and the addition of the excerpts from Snow Maiden is a plus… © 2012 ClassicalCDReview.com Read complete review

Review By Remy Franck,Pizzicato,September 2012
