Review By Lawrence Hansen,American Record Guide,March 2012

This is a vital, colorful, warm-hearted interpretation without a hint of routine or ennui about it—not a whiff of “Ho-hum, the Tchaikovsky again” here. And I’m not entirely surprised after hearing both of them at the Ravinia Festival. Those performances have, of course, evaporated with the ages, so it’s particularly rewarding to encounter these recordings.

The recorded sound certainly enhances the satisfaction to be gained from this. The balance between the soloists and orchestra is excellent, with a warmth and ambience that flatters string tone as well as the piano. © 2012 American Record Guide Read complete review on American Record Guide
