An Unlikely Treasure  

So, what is one of the world's leading Flamenco guitarists doing with one of the world's great folk-singer/guitarists? In this case, somehow crossing their respective musical borders to make some of the most ravishing and purely beautiful music ever recorded.

For me, this recording became important years ago, when I journeyed to Spain to study with Paco Pena, a superb guitarist and teacher in the "puro" style, the authentic old style of Flamenco, which focuses on accompanying the cante and baile, as well as solo guitar approaches. Paco's well-honed listening/reacting techniques come into full service on this disc of guitar duets, with the added bonus of Falu's amazingly beautiful baritone voice singing the songs of Argentina in a heartfelt way, while also managing to play the guitar on the very highest level in the South American classical style, reminiscent of Barrios, Alirio Diaz and even the great Segovia. Two of the world's best, complementing each other and creating a sum greater than the parts, which were great to begin with.

Very highly recommended, and recorded with warmth and presence. Flawless.
